A sliding gate kit contains the basics for automating sliding gates. Gate automation makes a manual gate open and close at the touch of a button. With a sliding gate, a kit will give you the following hardware:
While sliding electric gate kits don't include the wheels and track that a sliding gate runs on, these are often the choice of the installer. Alternatively, a gate may be supplied by the manufacturer with wheels pre-installed or a track may already be laid across the driveway. Either way, the required item must match the existing component to work properly, so they're not usually included in sliding gate kits.
Electric gates should always be installed by a professional gate installer and sliding gates are no exception. A gate automation system has to be strong enough to move a heavy sliding gate and without the appropriate understanding of safety issues this can create, a sliding gate could be dangerous.
However, by completing a safety audit and installing hardware such as additional safety photocells, safety edges and appropriate access control, a good gate installer will add to the standard sliding gate kit elements to produce a safe electric gate system.
